Yesterday Caleb and I ventured out with our sweet friends Lacey and McKynzi. Lacey and I played volleyball in college together and we were also soroity sisters together. I take pride in the fact that I introduced her to her now husband who was a good friend of mine before Lacey came to school! :) Anyway, we literally live about 15 minutes away from each other and do not get to see each other as often as we should, but I'm hoping after the time that Caleb and McKynzi had together on Monday that will all change! With the end of summer approaching more quickly than we would like, Lacey and I decided to take the kids to the Sea Life Aquarium in the Grapevine Mills Mall. Before we left though we had a sweet little donut date at our favorite donut spot near the house. Caleb and McKynzi discussed how delicious their chocolate sprinkled donuts were and then we were on our way!
Let me just tell you guys, if you plan on visiting this aquarium here's a couple of hints:
1. Purchase your tickets online and do it about a week before your actual trip. You get a discount and you won't have to wait as long.
2. GO EARLY!!! Oh my goodness the line was crazy long by the time we got to the front of the door to buy our tickets. We were so thankful we went when we did otherwise our little cuties probably would have not made it in that long line!
When we first got to the aquarium I was afraid Caleb was not going to make this experience very enjoyable...
He was a little upset that he couldn't stay by the small tank that they had to look at the fish, and he DEFINITELY did not want to wait in line. Once we got inside however, they had so much fun together looking at all of the different sea animals!
Sweet McKynzi wasn't quite sure about some of the animals at first. The best part was when we got to the glass walkway... heaven for bid McKynzi was NOT going to walk across that! I can't say that I blamed her though because it was a little weird walking through glass and sharks, fish, and other things swimming all around you! We finally got her to walk through though while Caleb held her hand!
After we made it through that obstacle we came across the section where you actually get to TOUCH some of the animals! Caleb was all about this!! His little curious brain never stops, so when he was asked if he would like to touch a seastar he stepped right up!
If you have little ones, this is a great aquarium to take your kids too. It definitely was good for younger children. We had such a fun day with the Hailey girls! I hope we get to hang out again soon!
