Family Time

Our trip to Illinois was full of excitement this year.  We kicked it off by a trip to the ER in Springfield, Missouri, about 10 minutes after we got there.  What happened you ask?  Well, Caleb sliced his finger open in the hotel room!  Since we literally just arrived to the hotel, mom stayed with Lily and Dad and I went to the hospital.  Three stitches and an orange popsicle later, we were settled in for the night to get some rest for the remainder of our drive the following day.

Once we actually made it to Illinois, our fun began.  Our sweet pumpkin turned 5 months old can you believe it?!  Where does the time go?!? Our days were full of playing Ninja Turtles, with cousins, grandparents, great-grandparents and so much more!  Caleb was in heaven watching fireworks, going to a parade and making s'mores with his big cousins.

After the parade was over, Mrs. Brandon had lunch waiting for us back at the house along with her famous and delicious cookies!  We got to visit with one of our favorite people and spend special time with her.

What I love the most about going home other than seeing my family, is that I'm reminded of what my childhood was like and I get to see Caleb and Lily experience a little bit of that. The neighborhood that my brother lives in is full of kids and they thought it would be fun to make their own 4th of July parade!  They walked, rode bikes, pulled wagons, carried flags, played patriotic music, threw candy and shouted, "U.S.A" around 2 whole blocks! :)  It was by fair the best parade I have ever been too!  Later that night after dinner we all sat out on the back porch, looking out at the pond, eating s'mores and lighting sparklers.

Our last days at my brother's house we spent going fishing and to the local fair.

We ended our trip in Illinois, back at my grandparents house and helped Grandpa and Great Grandfather in the garden.  The next morning we were up bright and early to make the long trip back to Texas.

We enjoyed our trip, but we were also glad to get back to our home.
