A Texas Blizzard

So it's funny being from up North where you truly HAVE expereinced a blizzard or ice storm before and then moving to Texas and thinking people are crazy when they just see a little bit of snow.  I mean seriously it's like a zoo down here as soon as you hear the word snow!  Now, call my crazy if you want or maybe I've just become a "Texan", but a few weeks ago it really did seem like a blizzard down in the dirty south!  The snow started falling and didn't stop all day long.  It was one of those heavy snows where as a teacher, you were just wondering when they were going to make the announcement that it was going to be an early release day... but that didn't happen.  It did happen however later that night!!  Friday morning we woke up to a beautiful white blanket laying in our yard!!  Caleb kept looking out the window begging to go out to play in the snow, but I'm kind of a softy when it comes to cold weather so I kept finding reasons to prolong it!  Finally after a lunch and a nap I decided to bundle my little man up and head out to experience some fun times in the cold cold snow.
It's funny watching a toddler try to walk through the snow.  Caleb took one step and kept saying, "I can't Momma I'm stuck!"  So after a few steps and showing him how to pick his feet up out of the snow we finally made it to the middle of the yard.  Caleb gave me this odd look like, "Ok I'm here... now what do I do!"  So we touched the snow and picked it up AND.........  stared at it! :)   That's it.  I tried to show him how to make snowballs, and throw it up in the air, but my child seriously was not interested in it.
After a while I decided to aclamate my kid the way I was growing up in this stuff and just bombard him with a few "tiny" snowballs to the face (keep in mind I'm a lot nicer than my 2 older brothers so they really were tiny and I didn't throw them very hard)  We laughed and played and I heard, "Heyyyyy.... that's not nice Momma!"  as I continued to throw the snow at my child.
Well I then thought, HEY let's make a snow angel!!!  Folks.... thats where our fun ended, after laying Caleb in the snow he was done and ready to go inside.  No snowman or anything!!  Oh well... at least we tried.  I guess my baby is a true Texan! :)  He prefers the outdoors when there is green grass and ground you can see!  I did however catch one last picture before going inside and it was by far my favorite!  I will forever remember our Texas Blizzard and the day I got to spend with my sweet child on this day!

Bring him to Illinois and grandma will show him how to play in the snow. We just had another 9 inches so he would get used to it in a hurry!!! Miss and love you all.
