Lions, and Tigers, and Bears... OH MY!

Today we had a Family Day! Chris and I have been talking about taking Caleb to the zoo for quite some time now, but the summer days are just way too hot. Last weekend, Chris suggested that we take Caleb to the zoo this weekend, and since he suggested it I jumped on the opportunity! We woke up kind of late today, so we didn't head over to Ft. Worth until a little after 11:00. When we got to the zoo Chris found a front row parking space, THIS NEVER HAPPENS!! We unloaded the kid, and headed to the gate where we realized our front row parking space was too good to be true because there was a line a mile long to get inside the zoo. So we patiently waited our turn, which didn't take too long thank goodness, and while we were waiting I decided to take a picture of Caleb anxiously sitting in his stroller. Once we got inside the first place that we saw was the monkey exhibit. Caleb LOVED it!! Every monkey he saw he stared and pointed at and kept saying, "Bye-bye". We tried to get pictures, but he wouldn't look at the camera because he was so interested in the monkeys!! Next came the Rhinos and Elephants. We tried and tried to get him to make his elephant sound, but he just stared and waved at the animals! Caleb also liked seeing the Tigers. We kept saying, "Geaux Tigers" and he would just laugh at us. He was fascinated with the 2 cubs that were playing with each other. I was fascinated with the mother though. I couldn't get a picture of her, but she was lying on a rock and just looked exhausted. After seeing her children playing I easily understood why she was resting! As we continued walking through the zoo we came across the cutest bear! At this point Caleb was ready to be out of his stroller so we let him work on his walking skills a little and he stopped to watch the bear take a nap. Then it was off to see those crazy horses with the stripes! Next was probably my favorite part of the zoo. They had this little area with all of these pretty bright yellow, green, and blue birds in them. You could go inside and buy seed sticks to feed the birds. I'm by no means a bird girl, but I did think Caleb would enjoy watching them fly close by and seeing them up close! The last two places we visited before we left were the kangaroos and the swamp. We had such a fun day! We shared a sno-cone, we took pictures, and we got to spend time as a family! Caleb loved to zoo and I can't wait until he gets a little older to take him back because I know he will love it even more! As we left, I had to take a few more sweet photos, I couldn't resist! Bye-bye animals, we will see you next time!! :)
