Caleb and the Sea Turtles

Well, we have currently started working on Caleb's room but we are at a stand still for the time being. Chris surprised me over Mother's Day weekend and had his room almost all painted when I went out with the girls on a Saturday afternoon! The color we picked out is called Aqua Mist, and is a little bright compared to the ugly gray color the room use to be! :) I absolutely love it though... I think once we get everything in the room and set up it will be adorable.
Chris and I had talked about doing a sports room but who are we kidding??? This is our kid and he is probably going to want a sports room his entire life! We decided to take a different route and keep the room more "baby". That's when we came up with idea of turtles. The turtle idea is very significant to Chris and I because we learned something very special about them on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Hawaiian people believe that sea turtles are the guardians of children. The legend is this:
According to Hawaiian legend, Kauila was a turtle with special power. She could turn herself into a young girl. The people of Ka'u loved Kauila because her spring gave them drinking water. They loved her even more because during the day, Kauila took human form and watched over their children as they played along the shoreline of the bay. She did this because she, too, liked to play. Kauila kept the children safe. Punalu'u Beach is a beautiful cove of black sand. There are many green sea turtles there. These turtles are tame and friendly. They often swim close to children playing and swimming in the water. This makes the children really happy.

I love the turtle theme but you already know that. Once you get the furniture in it will really look nice. We are anxiously waiting for Caleb's arrival. Miss and love you.

Love, Mom
