First Grader at LAST!

The day has finally arrived!  Caleb started his first day of First Grade at a new school and he had a great day.  I think I was more nervous about today than he was, so I'm super proud that he handled it so well.  I'm not sure if it's something that this age group goes through or if it's just a phase for him, but he talked so much about school like he had a great day and then tonight at bedtime he told me no one would play with him.  I'm sure this isn't all true, so I'm hoping tomorrow he will have a new friend to talk about!

Tonight at bedtime I decided to interview Caleb about his first day.  Here are his responses:
1.  My grade this year: First
2.  I am most excited about: Wow bucks!   You get to buy stuff!
3.  When I grow up I want to be:  I'm not sure yet, maybe what daddy is
4.  My best friend is:  Dylan, Jackson & Matthew, but I like everybody
5.  My favorite book:  Ninja Turtles
6.  My favorite color:  Green
7.  My favorite game:  Ninja Turtles
8.  My favorite thing to eat for lunch:  Chicken nuggets
9.  My favorite thing about school:  PE
10.  The best thing that happened today:  We went to PE!

Lily on the other hand... she didn't care for picture day at school today!  Her shirt definitely does not match her attitude today! :)  I hope all of our friends and family who have kiddos that started school today had a great day.  I also hope all of our teacher friends survived the back to school craziness and that you have a BLESSED year this year!

A little bit of this and that

Where does the time go?  Seriously, and why is it so hard to keep up with this blog?!?!  I really need to find a healthy balance in life (as I'm sure we all do), but what I have come to realize in the past 3 months is that too often we put the things we care about most on the back burner.  I'm over that.  I'm done with it.  So, here I sit again catching our friends and family up on what has been happening in our lives for the past few months.  Hopefully as the school year is coming to an end, I can do a better job of posting on here more often.

This is going to be a long one folks, so you can read on to see what the Bordelons' have been up too, or you can just scroll through the pictures (I must say there are SEVERAL good ones) either way here is the short version of our busy-ness! :)  Shortly after Lily's first birthday, we had to take her in to have tubes put in her ears.  Our sweet pea kept getting ear infection after ear infection so we finally scheduled a day and had the procedure done.  She did such a great job and slept most of the morning after her surgery!

Caleb also celebrated his 100th day of Kindergarten this past February!  We made a fun shirt that said I survived 100 days of school.

We met up with a sweet photographer, Chelle, to have some first year/Valentine's Day photos taken and like always... I couldn't be happier with what she captured!

March rolled around and before I knew it we were on Spring Break with one of our favorite families, The Hendersons'.  We took a long weekend trip down to San Antonio and enjoyed a rainy day at Sea World and stayed at a beautiful Marriott Hotel.  The boys had such a blast.  I must admit, it was nice going to Sea World on a rainy day because we didn't have to wait in line for much of anything!

After our trip, we celebrated Chris's 34th birthday but unfortunately Lily was a little under the weather so we didn't really do much celebrating.  We also had a scare with our sweet dog Noelle.  We thought that we would be spending our last night with her the weekend before spring break was over, but thankfully she is doing so much better and everything is great now.  We still are not sure exactly what happened to her, she either fell and hurt her back or had an embolism.  Either way we are happy to say she is back to her normal mischevious self and our house is happy again! :)
Caleb started baseball at the end of March.  I must admit, I had my doubts.  I truly thought this was going to be a big waste of money.  I can not even begin to tell you how happy I am that I was wrong about that though!  I absolutely love going to watch him play.  His second game he earned the game ball and I could not have been more proud of him!  His Uncle Tim was there to see him as well so it made it that much more special to our little slugger!  We do need to continue to work on catching and fielding, but he definitely has the hang of hitting!

A Winter ONEderland!

Its hard to believe she's already one.  As we were preparing to celebrate this milestone in Lily's life, I found myself overwhelmed with happiness & sadness at the same time.  My very last baby is growing up!  It's all I can do to love & cuddle on her as much as I can because time is going WAY. TO. FAST!!!

So our day started off with a few doctor visits.  The first visit was to the ENT.  Yes, she will be getting tubes due to the many ear infections she's experienced over the last few months.  Hopefully we will find out tomorrow if she can get them this week!  After the ENT we headed to our favorite pediatrician's office.  Our birthday girl weighed in at 19 pounds 11 ounces and was 29 1/2 inches long.  Everything checked out and as much as we love Dr. Coco, we hope once she gets her tubes she is much healthier and we don't have to make as many visits!

Later that day we came back home & had our first birthday present waiting from Uncle Keith, Aunt Amy, Lauren and Lyndsie.  What girl would LOVE a light up pillow pet?!?!

Once we got settled in it was time to start preparing for the party.  Mom and Caleb were busy making cookies while I was decorating the house, which I forgot to take pictures of... FAIL!!
The next day our little snowflake was ready to party!  We decided to keep it small and low key this year so we could just enjoy Lily and her day.  We still had a ton of delicious food; courtesy of Grandma, Papa & Nana and yummy cupcakes from SmallCakes

Lily loved her cake, presents and all of the attention that she was getting.  I would say overall her favorite part of the day was the cake!:-)

Out guests were such good sports and participated in a silly little photo op for her scrapbook!

And the best gift of all... Lily got to meet her bestie for the very first time!  We were so excited that Ninnie, Jae-Jae & sweet baby Alyssa were able to make it to the party!

A year has gone by why too quickly for this Momma!  I'm excited to see what the next year brings, but I want time to slow down some, my little loves are growing up way too fast!

Happy 1st Birthday, Lillian Harper!  You have brought so much love and joy to our hearts.  We thank God everyday for you and as your big brother would say, "We love you to the moon and back times infinity!"

Recap of 2013

Wow!  2013 has come and gone and once again, I've gone 4 months without posting on my sweet little family.  Needless to say, we have had a busy last few months of the year.  August is always busy with the start of school and Caleb's birthday.  Speaking of which my little guy isn't so little anymore! :(  He turned six years old this year, seriously where does the time go?!?!?!?

In honor of his sixth birthday, we celebrated his actual birthday at Babe's Chicken house and then took him and his bestie, Danny, to Great Wolf Lodge for an overnight stay and some waterpark fun.  They had a blast!

Shortly after the birthday celebration, we celebrated Lily and my niece, Haley's first Halloween.  We went trick or treating together with a Leonardo the ninja turtle, a candy corn princess and Tinkerbell!

Then November rolled around and we moved into our new home!  What a process this was, but we finally made it and we love everything about our cozy new place.  We had our first Thanksgiving here with my family and even enjoyed an extra special treat when my Gramps decided to make the trip to Texas as well.

Did I mention we also survived our first big ice storm?  We were iced in for 4 days which to all of my Illinois friends and family doesn't seem like a big deal, but for us Texans it's the end of the world. :)

For Christmas this year, we headed further south to New Orleans.  We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays with Nana and Papa, Mother, Gran and Pa, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  We stuffed our faces with beignets, raw oysters, chargrilled oysters, po'boys, and so many other things.  We only get to see some of them every couple of years so the time spent together is always a happy and fun one.

We had a few mishaps this year, as does everyone.  Sweet Lily was hospitalized for whooping cough,  and my Weebs and Chris's Grams went to Heaven.  Overall, 2013 was full of many blessings.  We welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world, Caleb started Kindergarten and LOVES school, we found our church home and became members, we filled a new home with lots of love, and so much more.

I'm excited about starting a new year today and I cannot wait to see what blessing God has in store for us in 2014.  My wish for this year is that all of our friends and family are just as blessed as we are and that everyone stops to take time and appreciate the things that truly matter in life.  It's easy to get wrapped up in the negativity, the things going wrong or the things we don't have.  My goal this year is to love a little more, stress a little less, and appreciate the things that I have because it is so much more than many others in this world.

Happy New Year family and friends!  Let's make it a good one!
